Ὀγχηστός, ἄλσος. Ὅμηρος „Ὀγχηστόν θ’ ἱερόν, Ποσι-
δήιον ἀγλαὸν ἄλσος“. κεῖται δὲ ἐν τῇ Ἁλιαρτίων χώρᾳ,
ἱδρυθὲν δὲ ὑπὸ Ὀγχηστοῦ τοῦ Βοιωτοῦ, ὥς φησιν Ἡσίοδος.
ἔστι καὶ πόλις [Βοιωτίας], ὡς Παυσανίας ἐνάτῳ. Ἀπολλώ-
νιος δὲ ὁ Ῥόδιος .... πόλιν φησὶ μεγάλην τὸν Ὀγχηστόν
μεταξὺ Ἁλιαρτίων καὶ Ἀκραιφίων. ἔστι καὶ ποταμὸς ἐν Θεσ-
σαλίᾳ. ὁ πολίτης Ὀγχήστιος. Παυσανίας ἐνάτῳ.
